Partnership with The Angels Community Outreach

We're so excited to once again team up with Angels Community Outreach to help make the holidays special for people in need. We have a toy collection box at the Glassboro Taco Bell, and we're giving out a coupon for a free taco for each new, unwrapped toy donated. We hope to see you there!

Annual Holiday Party

Summerwood held its annual Christmas party last night and it was fantastic. Everyone had so much fun. Thank you to Kathy Mullane, Peggy Kontra and all of the Summerwood team for putting together a great event.

Thanksgiving Partnership with SW Phila Rotary

For years, Summerwood has stepped up on Thanksgiving day packaging hundreds of meals for the less fortunate. We do this out of our Bala Cynwyd, PA KFC restaurant.

Lou Jackson, former Summerwood employee, along with Dave Demarco from Zio Gio, take the lead each year. Peggy Kontra always shows up with her smiling face each year and many others from Summerwood take time out of their Thanksgiving holiday to chip in EVERY year.

The Colonel also wanted to thank the following other Summerwood employees for helping out this year: Steve Basile from our Accounting team, Carolyn Nasuti, Carissa Smith LARM of Bala, Eric Lindenberger along with his Son, Mrs. Demarco from Zio Gio, Jeff Hildebrand, Jim Fullam's Nephew Eric and, as always, Jim and Celeste Nasuti stopped in.

Summerwood came together and helped others. This year we packaged nearly 400 meals!

Reality Check Meeting, 2017

Our entire organization, including KFC, Taco Bell and Burger King stores, got together on Tuesday for the annual Reality Check meeting, where we review the past year and prepare for the coming year.

Summerwood has grown very quickly since our last meeting and with each passing year comes new challenges and rewards. Jim, Celeste and John have done an amazing job building this company to where it is today.

KFC Team Building Scavenger Hunt, 2017

Area 1 and Area 2 participated in a team building event and faced off against each other in a scavenger hunt in Atlantic City, NJ. Both teams had a great time, and definitely made The Colonel proud!

The hunt took them all over.. throughout the city, the boardwalk, the casinos, and convention centers. Eric Lindenberger's Area 1 ream and his crew narrowly eeked out a victory versus Jeff Hildebrand's Area 2 team. But both teams really came together, and got to have some fun apart from the normal day to day stuff.

Supporting Boys and Girls Clubs of America

Win Hogans, Area 3 Area Coach, spent some time visiting the local Boys and Girls Club on Friday. He met with the Executive Director, Chris Couch, pictured below. It was their annual Trunk or Treat, where neighbors and friends congregate in a protected parking area and provide free candy from the decorated trunks of cars and trucks, allowing even the smallest kids to have a free, safe, and FUN Halloween! Other activities included a movie, arts and crafts and a costume contest.

Wedding Catering by Taco Bell

Summerwood catered its first wedding last weekend. The bride and groom had a special connection to Taco Bell which began during their courtship, which they wanted to symbolize in some way. Summerwood's Taco Bell Taco Truck provided refreshments between ceremony and reception. If you love tacos and would like to do the same, please reach out to our marketing coordinator, Lori Grossman. For a more immersive Taco Bell wedding experience, the flagship Las Vegas Taco Bell now offers a full wedding package. Click here for more information.

John & Sonya Monte’s Hawaiian Wedding

Selected Summerwood employees and family members were fortunate to attend Taco Bell’s FRANMAC convention in Honolulu, Hawaii. Area Coach John Monte took this occasion to tie the knot with Sonya Jones with a romantic ceremony on the beach. Chief Operating Partner John Marsella officiated at the wedding. It was truly a special experience, and we wish them happiness as they start their new lives together.

Rio Grande "In Lights" at Taco Bell Convention

Rio Grande was recognized as the having the highest grossing opening weekend for any new Taco Bell store at the Taco Bell Convention!! Go TEAM Summerwood!

We grossed over twice as much for the Opening PSA as the next two highest grossing stores! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen, and a special thank you goes out to all of our customers in Cape May county who turned out to make it the strongest store opening ever!

Two Summerwood Taco Bell locations in New Jersey, Blackwood and Glassboro, held fundraisers for Bike MS last week. A portion of sales were be donated to Bike MS.

Bike MS raises more money than any other cycling event for any other cause. To date, Bike MS cyclists, volunteers and donors have raised over $1 billion so people affected by MS can live their best lives as we stop MS in its tracks, restore what’s been lost and end MS forever.

Rio Grande Opening - Day 2

Day two of opening weekend at Rio Grande was also a success. Due to the unexpectedly strong sales yesterday, we called in additional staff and management from area restaurants in order to meet demand. Thank you to all of our customers!

Rio Grande Opening Day 2

Rio Grande "Grande" Opening

Rio Grande had an excellent opening day! Cars lined up around the block and eager customers queued up inside for a taste. This is the only Taco Bell in Cape May County, NJ, which has been without for many years. Evidently, they are glad to finally have Taco Bell back in South Jersey!

State of the Union, 2017

All store managers, above store leaders and administrative staff met to review sales figures and goals for the year ahead at the annual State of the Union conference on January 31st, 2017. This year, we met at The Hub in Conshohocken. A delicious catered lunch was provided and enjoyed by all. We also had a special presentation about health and wellness, along with blood pressure screenings, to help make sure that our Summerwood family is healthy and happy. We thank everyone for their contributions to Summerwood - we couldn’t do it without you.
