Team Member Spotlight: Gabby

Meet Gabby, a Restaurant General Manager at the Pennsville, New Jersey KFC. She immigrated to the U.S. in 2001 from Mexico and not too long after, joined one of Summerwood’s two-in-one KFC Taco Bell locations as a cashier. She still remembers the date clearly: May 6, 2006.

Gabby continued working as a cashier for a few years at KFC Taco Bell, but admits she tried leaving Summerwood at one point and ended up coming right back!

“Summerwood is a great company to work for,” Gabby says. “They offer you a lot of good things… They take care of us.”

Here, she praises the company for the level of support she’s received over the years. She appreciates Summerwood’s 401k offerings and bonuses, but it’s worth noting the company has a whole suite of employee benefits that also includes: tuition reimbursement, scholarships, paid time off (PTO), employee assistance, and short- and long-term disability, to name a few.

To lead her own location as a general manager has meant everything to her. She loves the environment and her team—the energy, “good vibes,” and happy team members.

“I enjoy what I do, you know?” Gabby says. “Hiring, training, motivating people, creating my own environment.”

The location she leads today is a standalone KFC, so she misses her Taco Bell days. Though it wasn’t easy switching from tacos to fried chicken, she had no problem naming her favorite menu item: the crispy Kentucky Fried Chicken Sandwich.
