Promoted & Still Climbing: Mallory C.!

The last time we spoke with Mallory C., she was a Restaurant General Manager (RGM) at our Elizabethtown, PA Taco Bell. Now, we have an exciting update: Mallory has been promoted to Area Coach (AC)!
Summerwood Standout
“Summerwood helped me realize that if I have faith and a team that supports me, I can accomplish anything.”
– Mallory C., Taco Bell Area Coach
Mallory has a storied history with Summerwood, having started with us as a team member at just 15 years old. Her team spirit, hardworking attitude and positive energy have led to a number of promotions over the years. From Shift Manager to Assistant General Manager (AGM) to RGM, she’s made a big impact on our business!
In our interview with Mallory a couple years back, she expressed an interest in becoming a Regional Training Manager (RTM). Not only did Mallory meet that goal, she surpassed it!
After spending time as an RTM at three of our Taco Bell restaurants and completing an AC training class, Mallory felt ready for the next step.
A Collaborative Leader
Mallory was officially promoted at the end of January, and she already has big plans for her new position. Being an AC is different in that she doesn’t have as much visibility into the operations side of the restaurants she oversees, so coaching and training her RGMs thoroughly is essential.
“As an Area Coach, I like partnership over power. I want us to accomplish goals, achieve a good culture, and hire good people — together.” – Mallory C., Taco Bell Area Coach
Lucky for Mallory’s direct reports, her leadership philosophy is a strong one.
Mallory is also a huge proponent of encouraging her team to spend time each day prioritizing projects that aren’t just related to the restaurant’s day-to-day operations. Many people she manages, Mallory says, feel as though they’ll never move up — but their own AC is a firsthand example of how putting in a little extra effort can go a long way. Mallory tries to instill this attitude into her team.
“If we just come into work every day, and take orders and make food and do nothing else, we are not changing the narrative,” Mallory says. “[I show] my team that taking the time to train and coach others will help us change tomorrow.”
What’s Next
“I want culture-driven restaurants, where everybody’s happy to work; I want staffed restaurants, where nobody is feeling overwhelmed; and I want my people to feel good!” – Mallory C., Taco Bell Area Coach
Mallory is excited to see herself grow as a leader. She shares that she hasn’t always believed in herself, but ever since joining us here at Summerwood, her self-esteem has skyrocketed. Being an AC is something that, in the past, she would’ve never thought she could do — but now, it’s an opportunity to excel at something new.
Aside from her own personal growth, Mallory wants to see her Taco Bell market area become one of the best.
In Mallory’s words, she’ll accomplish her goals this year by “always keeping that ‘we can do this and we will do this’ attitude.’”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Mallory. Congratulations on your promotion!
