Summerwood Legacy Series: Meet the Arizaga Family

At Summerwood, we take pride in serving great tacos and fried chicken, but we’re even more proud of the people who make it all possible. We strive to be a company that feels like family because our families are the ones who build us – quite literally!
Many of our team members share the experience with relatives who also work here, and we love celebrating those connections! That’s why we created our Legacy Luncheon: an opportunity to take our legacy families (those with multiple family members who’ve worked with Summerwood) out to lunch to relax, share stories and show our appreciation.
We kicked off the Legacy Luncheons with the Arizaga family. With so many family members having worked across our locations, we practically need a chart to keep track! Or perhaps a family tree? The Arizagas first joined Summerwood in 2005, so if you’ve visited or worked at one of our Taco Bell or KFC locations in Delaware over the past 20 years, chances are you’ve met one, and they likely made your day a little better!
We were thrilled to gather Maria, Guadalupe, Yesica and Mary Lou for lunch, along with Area Coach Christine L., who’s worked closely with the family over the years. Hearing their stories about growing up alongside coworkers, celebrating milestones together, and knowing family was always nearby, reminded us why these connections matter so much.
Mary Lou shared how she started at our Newport Taco Bell in 2007, later moved to Indiana, and eventually returned to Summerwood to be closer to family. Stories like hers highlight the lasting bonds our teams create.
We’re grateful to the Arizaga family for continuing to make Summerwood an incredible place to work, and we hope their legacy continues for many years to come. Interested in starting your own family legacy with us? Check out our open positions and apply today!
