Sunday Fun Day: Easter Bunny Delights at Deptford Taco Bell

On Sunday, April 2, we transformed what’s usually our quietest weekend day into an afternoon of springtime fun for the Deptford, NJ, community. Coined “Tacos with the Easter Bunny,” you could say Summerwood’s latest event brought in plenty of “peeps” thanks to the enthusiasm and leadership of our Deptford RGM, Destiny, and Lorenzo, the thoughtful young team member who volunteered to be bunny for a day.

Held from noon to 2 p.m., this event truly felt like a celebration after enduring the limitations COVID put on business and social experiences in recent years. Guests enjoyed photos and lunch with the Easter Bunny, face painting, sidewalk chalk art, and an egg hunt. There was also a raffle for a gift basket and gift cards. And don’t worry, we didn’t forget the drive-thru! Lorenzo the Bunny surprised those guests too (and also got caught making tacos in the kitchen).

Before the pandemic, our Deptford Taco Bell team enjoyed hosting special community events like this, including tacos and photos with Santa and graduation get togethers. It’s a way to have fun as a team while building sales, and what better team to spread cheer than one that currently comprises 35 energetic teenagers (and the beloved Rosie)! 

But to Destiny, there’s even more to it. This gal has a real heart for community engagement. The oldest of five siblings, Destiny remembers standing in line at the mall to see the Easter Bunny. Today, she recognizes it as a tradition that isn’t affordable to all. Events like these can bring the same kind of joy but with the community feel. And that ties into our mission “With a passion to serve others …”
